Bringing A New Vision To Life
MarineLab Key Largo is an environmental education center providing outstanding marine science programs for students of all ages since 1985. With the Florida Keys as our classroom we promote an immersive hands-on learning approach. Through the blend of education and adventure, we nurture environmental awareness and conservation on a local, regional, national, and global scale.
Our facility started out as a restaurant/bar/marine complex. After a major fire took out the largest building in 1985, our founder Ian Koblick purchased the property and remodeled it to become our environmental education campus. For decades we have housed and taught thousands of students in a converted boat storage barn. It is time to create a building that matches the quality of the educational programming!
The new, storm-ready and eco-conscious building will be on the slab previously occupied by the burned-down restaurant, with a new cafeteria attached above our existing Pavilion.
